Professor Nathan Taback, Associate Chair, Undergraduate Studies in the Department of Statistical Sciences, is part of the Interdisciplinary Data Science Course Development Team that has received the University of Toronto’s Northrop Frye Award, one of the university’s Awards of Excellence.
The award recognizes the team’s development of three introductory data science courses for students across the Faculty of Arts & Science, particularly those without a traditional computational or quantitative background. The courses were created through a collaboration spanning the humanities, social sciences, life sciences and mathematical sciences.

The initiative grew out of the Faculty of Arts & Science Computational and Data Studies Working Group, which was established to meet growing student demand for data and computation-focused learning across disciplines.
