Two DoSS PhD Students have received Queen Elizabeth II GSST Awards

In recognition of their academic achievement, two PhD students, Michael Moon and David Veitch, in the Department of Statistical Sciences have received the Queen Elizabeth II Graduate Scholarship in Science & Technology for the academic year 2020-21. 

The Department of Statistical Sciences congratulates Michael and David on their significant achievement. 
 

Michael Moon

Michael Moon is a 2nd-year PhD student (entering his 3rd year in the Fall) focusing on Statistical Theory and Applications. His research interests lie applied statistics, statistics education and statistics communication. Michael has also received a U of T COVID-19 Student Engagement Award in June 2020 along with his teammates.
 

David Veitch

​​​​​​David Veitch is a 1st- year PhD student (entering his 2nd year in the Fall). His research interests include time series analysis and machine learning, and their applications in industrial settings. He was previously the recipient of a Vector Scholarship in Artificial Intelligence (2018-2019), and won the Andrews Academic Achievement Award (2019).
