Professor Linbo Wang Appointed Canada Research Chair in Causal Machine Learning

The Department of Statistical Sciences is thrilled to announce that Professor Linbo Wang has been named a Canada Research Chair in Causal Machine Learning. This prestigious accolade is part of the latest cohort recognized by the Government of Canada to support outstanding academic research and training.

Since joining the University of Toronto in 2018, Professor Wang has distinguished himself as a leader in biostatistics and data science. His extensive background, which includes studies at Peking University, the University of Washington, and the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, has laid a solid foundation for his research. At UTSC, he holds a cross-appointment in the Department of Computer and Mathematical Sciences, where he specializes in theoretical statistics, causal modelling, graphical models, and robust inference in infinite-dimensional models.

The Canada Research Chairs Program aims to attract and retain some of the world’s most accomplished and promising minds. Professor Wang's appointment highlights his significant contributions to his field and his role in enhancing Canada’s inteernational competitiveness in science and technology.
