Announcement: changes to our graduate statistics programs

November 6, 2019 by U of T Department of Statistical Sciences

We are very excited to announce some positive changes to our PhD and MSc statistics programs at the U of T Department of Statistical Sciences.

First, we are expanding our PhD program, doubling the number of available spots for international students, and renewing our commitment to building a diverse PhD student body. Further, students in our PhD program will now receive full funding for five (5) years, matching typical completion times. We continue to encourage exceptional undergraduate candidates to apply directly to our PhD program. Learn more about admissions to our PhD program.

Second, our Master's program will continue to cater to students aiming to deepen their understanding of statistical sciences in pursuit of careers within or beyond academia. To reach our goal of significantly increasing the number of international students in our Master's program, we now offer admission to highly qualified self-funded students. We encourage all students to apply for TA-ships and to take advantage of other funding and financial aid opportunities. All domestic students should apply specifically for the Ontario Graduate Scholarship (OGS), as well as National Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) scholarships.
