The Department of Statistical Sciences is recognized internationally as the leading research unit in statistical sciences in Canada and among the best internationally. The research in the Department of Statistical Sciences has a long tradition anchored in theory and methods, statistical computing, actuarial science and mathematical finance. In recent years the department has expanded its research activity in theory and applications of data science and has strengthened its connections with other academic departments and with industrial partners. Ten faculty members from the department, several recently appointed, will present their work and showcase our growing research breadth and interests.
