Description

Each year we partner with Innovation Hub, Cookhouse Labs, to pair students who are interested in learning and applying design thinking to real businesses challenges with real, professional industry clients - we are proud to announce registration for the 2023 Bootcamp!

Who is this for? Students in Statistics, Actuarial and Data Science (any year) who are interested in learning valuable design thinking, teamwork, time management and presentation skills. This is a great opportunity to apply your technical/academic knowledge to a real situation with real industry clients, which also means it's a great way to meet with industry professionals.

This is a great resume-building opportunity as well based on the skills you'll use and learn and working with industry professionals - if you did not secure a summer internship, this is a great way to end your summer!

Space is limited and will go to students who are engaged and excited to take on this fun challenge. To determine that, apply HERE (registration is not guaranteed, please wait for a confirmation email). Deadline to register will be rolling, depending on how many students sign up; please register your space soon to avoid the waiting list.

Details:
Date: In-person August 9 - 11th (there will be a pre-bootcamp virtual meeting with your industry partner prior to the 9th. Tentative date, July 25th).
You will also need to watch design-thinking videos head of the bootcamp to be able to get started quickly (approx. 45-60 minutes total).

Time: Exact time on Wednesday and Thursday will depend on team and industry client availability, plan on 9-5. The final presentation (Aug. 11) will be during the day and based on client availability. In past, teams meet online in the evening to complete tasks or brainstorm further.

Location: Cookhouse Labs Innovation Hub, Richmond and University, near Osgoode Subway Station.

Topic: The exact challenge will be dependent on the industry client, but there will be an emphasis on sustainability (a key topic in all industries!).

Cost: There is a small fee ($15) to ensure participation, which also goes towards snacks during the event

Apply for Cookhouse Labs, we will review your intake form and confirm your space on a team as soon as possible.
