The Department of Statistical Sciences at the University of Toronto hosted its annual Graduate Open House on October 4, 2025, welcoming an energetic crowd of prospective students eager to learn about advanced study and research opportunities in statistics, data science, and financial insurance.
Held at 700 University Avenue, the event featured presentations from program directors Dena Firoozi (Master of Financial Insurance), Meredith Franklin (Data Science Programs), and Stanislav Volgushev (Associate Chair, Graduate Studies), who provided insights into the unique academic and professional pathways offered through the department’s MSc, PhD, MScAC in Data Science, and MFI programs.
Attendees had the opportunity to connect directly with faculty, administrators, and current graduate students during interactive breakout sessions and a lively networking lunch. The afternoon concluded with an alumni career panel, where graduates shared their experiences transitioning from academic research to impactful roles across industry sectors.
