30 pm \n Online \n\nSpeakers \nBethany White, Rohan Alexander, Samantha-
Jo Caetano, and others \n\nDescription: \nThis workshop is an introductio
n to R, or more specifically: to an interactive toolbox we’ve developed t
o teach R to students interested in data analysis. This event is free and
everyone is welcome to join. The event will be moderated in part by Rohan A
lexander and Samantha-Jo Caetano, who co-developed the toolbox, along wi
th a team of students.Register hereThis event is part of a weekly series c
alled the Toronto Data Workshop (TDW). TDW brings together academia and in
dustry to share best practices for getting applied statistics projects off
the ground. Learn more about the series. The ToolboxStatistics and statist
ical programming can be scary, especially if you’re totally new to it. We
want to make sure that fear doesn’t get in the way of students across dis
ciplines adding a powerful tool to their “data analysis tool belt”.To lowe
r barriers and increase diversity among R learners, we have developed an
interactive toolbox that allows learners to go at their own pace and learn
from their peers. (And hopefully have some fun, too!)  About RR is a pow
erful, versatile, and free statistical programming language that makes i
t easy to analyze data by letting you create complex statistical models wi
th just a few lines of code. It’s widely used among statisticians and data
scientists, and has become an integral part of our student curriculum.R
is a growing languageR has shown remarkable growth in the last five years\
, and is currently playing a huge role in the search for a COVID-19 vaccin
e.Why R is not just for statisticiansWith the rise of “big data”, analyzi
ng data and extracting useful information from it, has become an increasi
ngly important skill across many disciplines, such as political, social
and health sciences. R is a very useful language to learn, whether you’re
planning for a career in academia or industry.Register here  \n\nContact
